Engineering grade plastic is the material of choice for all of Underwater Kinetics products. We have auditioned and selected the best of the thousands of plastic types for combinations of strength, corrosion resistance, clarity, fire resistance, static charge dissipation, UV resistance, thermal stability and just plain toughness. All of these plastics arrive at our door as small pellets which must be melted and formed into the component shapes using a process known as injection molding. The pellets are drawn into a heavy syringe like cylinder where they are melted and injected at high pressure into a steel mold and allowed to cool. The mold then opens and the newly formed part is ejected and sent on its way to be assembled into one of our products. We have have a large family of molding machines ranging in size from a small car to a giant truck. All are tended by skilled group of molding specialists and a few robots.
Some of our OEM customers appreciate our ability to pad print images on our larger waterproof cases. As shown in the images below from a recent job, we are able to help them present a professional image with our pad printing capabilities, using high-quality Printex pad printing equipment.
