Seven mid-size plastic cases for storage and transport
ABS or POLYPROPYLENE?
Whether you need a case to transport sensitive equipment on a military mission or to protect your camera while traveling, you need to choose between ABS or polypropylene. Depending on your needs, either ABS or PP will perform better and last longer under your specific conditions. If you're not sure which option is best for you, contact us for advice.
ABS, short for Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene, is a durable and rigid plastic that withstands freezing temperatures better than PP. ABS can be solvent-welded, so modification/customization options are almost limitless. It is also field repairable, making ABS perfect for expeditionary or military use. Unlike our competitors, we add a UV inhibitor to the raw material, so all of our ABS cases are UV resistant.
Polypropylene (PP) is automotive grade with microcellular foam for weight reduction and solid additives for shape stability. PP cases are 20% lighter and more impact resistant than ABS. PP has very high chemical resistance, so it can be used to store corrosive materials. However, it cannot be glued or solvent-welded back together (i.e., field repaired) if damaged. Accessories such as panel rings must be screwed to the case, not glued. This limits customization. PP performs better than ABS when hot, but cracks more easily when cold.
SMART LATCHES
UK UltraCases have a proprietary spring-loaded latch that is easy to open and close. However, it will remain securely closed even if dropped.
Built-in pressure valve equalizes internal pressure only when the latch is opened, preventing the ingress of contaminating gases during transport. Our cases are air- and watertight to 3 ft/1 m underwater.
FULL-LENGTH HINGES
Our cases feature full-length hinges with a stainless steel pin for strength and durability you can trust.
WATERPROOF SEAL
In our ABS cases, the main O-Ring is made of hollow silicone rubber tubing, which is chemically resistant and retains its shape over time.
Our polypropylene cases feature a neoprene rubber O-Ring that provides an excellent seal.
ATTACHMENT POINTS
Each UltraCase has two molded attachment points for a shoulder strap and two 1/4" padlock loops for security.
